International Yoga Day - Mental Health and Body As we all know that in today’s fast-moving world we always seem to be in a hurry and neglect our health, especially our mental health or we can say because of our busy life schedule we fail to give enough thought to our mental health. We have all heard many times that regular exercise is good for us, and it can help us to keep our body and mind healthy. But we are too busy with different things in our life; we have a job, we don’t want to change our eating habits, we give excuses to our self the list is never ending. The good thing is that it's never too late to start exercise and improve our health. We can start exercise slowly, and find ways to enhance our physical and mental condition and thereby enrich the quality of our lives. To get the benefit, of exercise we should try to take time out, and if we do, the payoff is that we will see an overall improvement in our health, both mental and physical. This will subsequently help increase our immunity and prevent different infections from overpowering us. This may in turn add years to our lives. Physical activity or exercise can improve our health and reduce the risk of developing several diseases like diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases, etc. The link between mental health and physical health is often misconstrued. We think of them as different entities, with no relation to each other, but the two go hand in hand. This mindset leads one to believe that that there is no connection between “mind” and “body” and that mental illness is not in any way connected to our physical state. In truth, mental health has a direct impact on our physical health. Many of us are not aware of how common mental illness is. About one in five adults are known to have a mental health condition. Mental health issues vary in nature and cover a wide range of problems, from ones that affect mood to those that affect thinking or behavior. Like depression, anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorder, addictive behavior. If you are experiencing symptoms of any mental health condition, it is important to contact a medical professional who can help you. Eating right and exercising can help some people improve their mental health. However, others may need medication or counseling to see changes. By partnering with a medical expert, you will be better able to find out what’s right for you. Most importantly, achieving our health goals can be a great moment for us, but don’t forget to enjoy the small victories that help us to get there, take pride in those fit feelings. Regular exercise can improve the quality of life. A minimum of 30 minutes of yoga and meditation a day will ensure that we live a healthy life both in mind and body.
