Multi-tasking and Bubbles!! A wonderful expression by Dr. Ashwini Kulkarni , MD Psychiatry, on the " I am fine RE- LIVING Program by I am fine foundation. Multi-tasking and BUBBLES!!! Between multitasking, rapidly moving, highly functional life comes those short, rapidly moving, revolutionary thought bubbles. They appear like flashes and even before we can ponder over them, they just disappear, to appear again, sometime later. . I call them the moments of truth. I don’t know whether these thoughts are a product of some kind of an escape mechanism, stress, push, pull or any divine revelation or are just natural phenomenon, but whatever they are; they leave a nagging impression on the mind. Every day, mostly in the mornings they are just there, somewhere. Many a times we do not even understand as to what it is that is pricking and troubling us. Is it some kind of sublime worry? Or is it some kind of fear? Or is it someone something said to us? Sometimes we know the cause but refuse to understand it. And this kind of resistance also troubles us. Such frequent deep emotional moments brings crucial thoughts in our mind. What do we want from this life? What are my goals? What’s happiness? Why am I doing whatever I am doing? Why don’t I just quit? Shall I push more? One more time? Why do I worry for things not in my control? What do I do? I need to sort out things! However we pull through our days despite these crucial thoughts, to escape and distract ourselves with multi-tasking routine activities without any efforts in settling these issues. The fact also remains that as time goes by, the nagging and pushing keeps increasing and one is generally unhappy, stressful, and irritated with multiple episodes of mood swings. All this happens even if logically, everything around us is fine; if not perfect. Here is the stage when one has almost everything but yet ‘NOT FINE’ So what do I do about it? Could I find the solution on my own? If not, should I try seeking help? Is there anything that is stopping me from taking the most important action? Do I have any fears about seeking help? Everyone understands, nothing was ever achieved without making right efforts. Each one has to make right efforts and efforts need time. One must invest time and energy towards achieving the right balance in life. ‘I am fine Reliving” program aims at catching these crucial bubbling thoughts and working on them. It aims at trying to understand the thoughts and feelings arising out of these thoughts and the behavioural reasons behind these nagging feelings. It aims at helping you live the same life differently, with serenity. It helps us to understand our goals, our values and our life balance. The program helps an individual design his or her own action plan that is aligned with his or her personal values. Action in the right direction coupled with openness, willingness and honesty is the key to re-living your life the way you would want to. The program facilitates all this with the help of multiple therapies from the specialists. Our counselors and psychiatrists at the foundation try to understand the reasons behind these bubbles from a neuropsychiatric and behavioural point of view based on certain recent advances. These include imbalances of neurochemicals in brain, especially serotonin and dopamine, and also study conflicting thoughts at conscious and subconscious level. By identifying these deep-rooted thoughts and the feelings hidden deep inside, the team at I am fine foundation helps in bursting these nagging bubbles. The program is a great help …… only if you SEEK it. Let us explore the nagging thought bubbles. Let us burst them permanently. Let us take action towards making ourselves happy! Let’s RE LIVE!
